We built a new home in Wattle Grove and installed an evaporative cooling system through Free Cool Heat. Having lived in Canberra for sixteen years, we were well aware of the benefits of passive solar-designed homes. Construction of our new home in Wattle Grove included several passive solar features. With the RenewAir Renewable Energy Heating system added to our cooling system, the benefit certainly shone through last winter.

Our new home is fitted with a gas bayonet. We only used our bayoneted heater on two or three occasions during the coldest nights. Our cooling/heating did the job by warming the home during the day, with the thermal mass of the house retaining and slowly releasing that heat after sundown, significantly lowering our heating costs.
